badass melodies/synths

great mix of melodies and synth as usual - though this is especially creative. the synths combine very very well. the only part that seemed lacking was a solid drum part, but maybe you were getting there? hard to tell, shame the track will remain unfinished (and that you lost all the files that you did), but now you can move on to bigger and better things. music's all about moving forward anyway!

slick production - nice track

i dig the overall feel to this - definately a solid mix of rap/industrial. the drums/bass locked together rhythmically and texturally. the gun sound effect was a little bit cheesy, but it at least wasn't overdone and drowning out. the melodies captured the mood that the drums and bass laid out, really giving a solid feel to the song overall.

it lacked a little bit in movement and defining melody, however. i tend to have similiar problems in my song. even in ambient or rap music there has to be some sort of defining melody or rhythm that you really think of when you hear the name of the song - and this didn't quite have it. i gave you an 8 simply because there is room for improvement here, but this is a great start. just keep workin on music and keep the tunes comin.

thesurgeongeneral responds:

there was orignally a harp melody, but i think i ruined the ambience of the track and drowned out the choir, so it was removed rather than faded in and out.

Thanks for the supportive and constructive review.Perhaps i will work towards developing this style of music.

great production

dig the production - the synths and drums were put together quite well. slick mixing job. you definately know what you're doing with that. the song itself however seemed a little predictable. although it sounded good, it just sounds like something i've heard more than a few times before (and i'm not saying that because it's a remix - i have no idea what the original is). the break at the end is a nice slap in the face though.

PERVOK responds:

I made it predictable, because thats the way I like it.
The way I think of 'non-predicatcle', is completely fucked up and glithed out.

And i didnt want that in this song.

Other than that, thanks for the review.

very cool drums

really cool drum programming. cool mix of styles and tones. the one thing this seemed to miss was overall production. the melodies and beats are some of the best i've heard from you, but some of the mixing/compression seemed like it could have been done better. good work though - keep the music comin!

Viewtiful-Masta responds:

(XD) Yea dude! I missed you! Thanks for the review man! Creamy T mon! Hows it going man! Well I know i just put in ramdom beats and loops! Thats why i named it "Out Of Control"! Well i don't know about "Keep it the music coming" but i'll try...so far im only working on one though. Thats about it...I won't post it no time soon though! Thank man! Thanks again for this Viewtiful review!

Keep it V man!

cool atmosphere

the pads are very cool - adds some very cool atmosphere. there is some conflicting melody in the 3rd chord/note of the pads with the pluck synth that doesn't quite sound right - try adjusting some of the notes by a half step or two to get a more full melody that compliments the pads. if you like the melody, maybe change the pads.

MTS069 responds:

thanx for that :)

good..for 1998?

this sounds like a bad mix between staind and tool. way too much tone correction on the vocals. good recording quality, but i think i've heard enough songs like this.

great synths

great bass synths, good drums. parts blend together well, and everything is nicely mixed. good for standard run of the mill dnb stuff.

my one complaint was just that there's overall no distiguishing marks of any kind here. this sounds like it could of come off of the backburner of any decent artist out there. don't get me wrong, plenty of people have a hard enough time making things blend this well, but it just seems like there's nothing special about this. you need to take a risk somewhere and pull something that will stand out - something that makes you smile when you hear it because you didn't expect it and it sounded cool as hell. as of now the structure and drums just end up being too predictable.

maybe you're not going for that though, i don't know. you've definately got something to work with though.

Viewtiful-Masta responds:

You know what I agree with you!
I'll try more on trance. I know it's harder for me to accompplish a good trance. If you heard that trance song I made it wasn't all that good. I'll try on what you said! I'm still gonna make a remix of this song but later. The reason why this song sounds so good its because i've been listening to other peoples songs so long and I practiced on music software programs. I just didn't want to come out with something shitty!

Thank for that hard and VIEWTIFUL review!

cool fusion, could be better

first off, good work on synths. they all sounded powerful and evenly layered with each other. the variations and transitions work out well, although the rock synth guitar tends to sound a little cheesy at times. great gating or whatever it's called on it after that solo though, very strong.

my main complaint is w/drums. they seem far too weak, (volume and low end) and end up only coming out at all in parts where the synth is at low volume. fortunetly the synths are strong, and the drums sound great when you can hear them better.

great structure and good synths, you obviously have a good head for music.

Waterflame responds:

i know, this is a screw up ... i hate itttth. thanks

needs better mixing

all the synths sound fine and all, but all i could hear by the time they came in was the offbeat hi-hat and the synths. would benefit a LOT from better mixing, especially on the kick drum and bass.
